For Windows and Mac, the Drata Agent verifies if you have installed one of the supported software options to pass the antivirus software compliance check.

Configure your MacOS

For Mac, if you have not installed a supported software option, you may pursue extra configuration of XProtect and Gatekeeper to pass the antivirus check. These items are enabled by default on Mac computers, but we recommend you double-check their configuration according to the below instructions.

Enable XProtect. XProtect should be enabled by default, but in case it was disabled:

  1. Select the Apple icon in the top-left corner and choose System Settings from the dropdown menu.

  2. Select Software Update.

  3. Select the Advanced button (depending on your macOS version, you might see an "i" inside a circle instead).

  4. Ensure the Install system data files and security updates option is selected.

  5. Close System Settings.

Enable Gatekeeper. Gatekeeper should be enabled by default, but in case it was disabled:

  1. Open the System Settings application.

  2. Select Privacy & Security.

  3. If the lock in the lower-left corner is locked, select it, then enter your Mac's username and password (if required).

  4. Select the App Store and identified developers under the Security section.

  5. Ensure to lock your settings if you unlock it.

  6. Close System Settings.

If you fail the AV check, it means XProtect or Gatekeeper was not enabled AND that no supported antivirus app was found.
