Connecting Microsoft Teams allows you to notify channels about Not Ready Controls as well as personnel with pending compliance actions.
BEFORE DIVING IN
Ensure you have permission to install the Drata app in your Microsoft Teams tenant. To learn more about installing Microsoft Teams apps, click here.
Microsoft Teams does not allow sending messages via connector to private channels. To learn more click here.
Connect Microsoft Teams to Drata
Navigate to the Drata portal and login.
In the bottom left corner within the navigation menu, select Connections.
Search for the Microsoft Teams connection or select the Communication type connection, and then select Microsoft Teams. Ensure you are on the Available connections tab.
You will need your Microsoft Team URL to proceed. To get to Team URL please follow these steps:
Back in Drata paste in Microsoft Team URL in the Microsoft Teams connection Drawer and Click on Connect your Microsoft Teams workspace
Back in Drata, paste the Microsoft Team URL into the Microsoft Teams connection drawer and continue.
Set up Notifications
Navigation to Settings by selecting your username in the bottom left corner.
Select Settings.
Select Notifications.
If you have multiple workspaces, select the desired workspace.
At the top right, select + New Notification.
Select the notification type you would like.
Controls not ready notification type (Control notification type): Control Notification allows you to be notified if control(s) are not ready.
Personnel with pending actions: Personnel Notification allows you to be notified about employee(s) with pending actions.
Tests with an "error" result: Test error notifications allow you to be notified about tests with an ‘Error’ result. Tests with an ‘Error’ result require resolution to be restored in order for the test to be conducted properly.
Enter the Team URL for the destination. You can copy the Team url from the browser or within the Microsoft app.
To copy the team (channel) URL from the browser:
Log in to Microsoft Teams.
Create or find the channel you want to link to your notifications.
Open the channel by clicking on it.
Copy the browser URL.
Paste this URL into the Destination section in Drata.
Navigate to the channel in Microsoft Teams.
Open the channel menu at the top right.
Click Get link to channel, then click Copy.
Paste this URL into the Destination section in Drata.
Select the notification frequency.
Note: With daily frequency, notifications are sent at 6 AM PT every day, including weekends. With weekly frequency, notifications are sent on Mondays at 6 AM PT.
Select Schedule Notification.
Editing an existing notification
On the Notifications page, select the edit icon for the existing notifications you would like to edit. You can only edit channels and frequency
Enable or disable existing notification
On the Notifications page, toggle on or off the notifications you would like to enable or disable.
Delete an existing notification
On the Notifications page, select the on the delete icon on the right side of the table and confirm your deletion.
