Task notifications

Learn how to manage task email notifications including upcoming task reminders and past due tasks.

Updated over a week ago

Drata sends email notifications to help you stay on top of compliance work. Notifications go to the user who owns the task. Admins do not receive these emails for other users. Admins can view upcoming and overdue tasks on the Tasks page.

Task ownership notifications (automatic)

These emails are sent automatically when your task ownership changes. These notifications can’t be turned off. You’ll receive an email when:

  • You are assigned to a task (new or reassigned)

  • You are removed from a task you previously owned

  • A task you own is deleted

Task reminders

In addition to ownership notifications, Drata also sends reminder emails to help you stay on top of upcoming and overdue tasks.

Past due tasks

Use this reminder to follow up on tasks that have missed their due date.

  • When it’s sent: Mondays and Thursdays

  • Who receives it: Task owners with overdue tasks

  • What’s included: A list of your overdue tasks and a link back to Drata

  • Email details: From Drata, subject like “You have overdue tasks in Drata”

Upcoming task reminders

Use this reminder to prepare for upcoming work.

  • When it’s sent: Mondays

  • Who receives it: Task owners with tasks due in the next week

  • What’s included: A list of your upcoming tasks due in the next week and a link back to Drata

  • Email details: From Drata, subject “You have upcoming tasks due this week in Drata”

  • Not sent if:

    • You have no tasks due in the next seven days

    • All tasks due next seven days are complete

Manage all task notifications

Manage task-related emails in Settings → My Settings → Notifications.

Ensure Allow notifications is enabled. Then turn these on or off:

  • Past due tasks: Emails sent to the task owner on Mondays and Thursdays until the tasks are completed.

  • Upcoming task reminders: Email sent every Monday.
