Workspace Manager overview

The steps to manage Workspace Managers depend on your interface version. Select a link to skip to the instructions for your version.

Customers who joined Drata on or after Feb 24, 2026 are automatically on the New Experience.

The Workspace Manager role is designed for users who manage day-to-day compliance work within specific workspaces. Workspace Managers can oversee compliance activities only in the workspace(s) they are assigned to.

Prerequisites

Before you can assign Workspace Managers, the following requirements must be met:

  • Workspaces must be enabled in your Drata account

  • Workspaces is an add-on feature

  • Contact your Customer Success team to enable Workspaces

  • Only Admins can assign or remove Workspace Managers

Assign a Workspace Manager

Admins can assign Workspace Managers through the Workspaces settings.

  1. Go to Settings → Workspaces

  2. Select the workspace you want to manage

  3. In the Managers section, select Edit

  4. Add or remove Workspace Managers as needed

  5. (Optional) Enable Read-only permission

  6. Select Save

From this page, you can also update existing Workspace Managers, assign read-only permissions, or remove them as workspace managers.

Notes:

  • You can assign multiple Workspace Managers to the same workspace

  • A workspace does not require a Workspace Manager

Read-Only Workspace Managers

Workspace Managers can optionally be granted read-only access if they should view or download information without making changes.

Instructions for the Classic Experience ⬇️

Workspace Managers have limited access that allows them to complete common tasks related to their assigned workspace(s).

Workspaces is an add feature that must be enabled to have workspace manager roles. Reach out to the Customer Success team to learn more or to enable Workspaces.

Assign workspace manager roles

Note: Only admins can assign roles.

You can assign workspace manager roles under the workspace drawer on the Company Info page. There are two ways to access the Company Info page:

  1. From the Settings page, select 'Company Info' or

  2. From the Settings page, select 'Role Administration', scroll to the workspace manager section, and select 'Open company info'.

From the Company Info page, go to the desired workspace and select edit.

From the drawer, go to the 'Workspace manager' section and search the name of the person you want to assign and select 'Add' next to their name. Select 'Save'.

NOTE: You can assign multiple workspace managers for the same workspace. Additionally, workspaces are not required to have any assigned workspace managers.

Assign read-only access to a workspace manager

Go to the same drawer you assigned that workspace manager, and toggle on the 'Read only' permission next to their name. Select 'Save'.

Go to the same drawer you assigned that workspace manager, and select the 'X' next to their name. Select 'Save'.
